The Hencote & Bill Froggatt « Result #3 on Jul 6, 2009, 12:28pm »
Does anyone out there know if any of the late Bill Froggatt's poems or monologues are available in print? I thought Ed's rendition of The Hencote on the first live album was very amusing but I have never been able to find any more of Froggat's works.
Re: What's Your Favourite Fivepenny Piece song? « Result #4 on Jun 26, 2009, 8:02am »
Hi from new member "eebagum" (original or what?). I reckon my favourite songs are, for the comic ones it has to be 'Ee by gum', cos I walk round singing it word perfect, and for the serious side it is 'Mi Gronny'. All this is academic as with the quality of everything the band have done, you can't really pick a favourite, they all shine in their own way. I am slowly collecting the cds after coming across the site when I got my new pc. I remember them from the 70s, ahving being introduced to the music by an RAFcolleague who was from the group's home area.

Deeply sorry to hear of Eddie's passing, I have many happy memories of the backstage banter, and frequent visits to his grocers shop on Mottram Road, to purchase Lancashire Cheese, and jars of Mixed Pickles, It seems like only yesterday, and not Thirty Years or so ago.
Rest in piece old Friend, and thanks for the Music and the many fond memories.

It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Eddie Crotty - founder member and much loved singer, songwriter and funny man of the group. He had been ill for some time and passed peacefully away at the weekend in Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.
