Hi, I'm new to the board and desperate to track something down for my father. He had a tape of the five penny piece performing a spoken trach called 'when harold got shot in the eye' and 'Sylvest' if I remember correctly. Unfortunately I taped over it many years ago. Can anyone confirm what album or CD these songs are onand where I can get hold of one.
Thanks

Hi. Tideswell88
In reply to your query both the tracks you are seeking can be found on the " Fivepenny Piece onStage " album. It was released on the " EMI One Up ", Label, The Catalogue No. is " OU 2050 ". Released in 1974, I believe.
As to it's availability there I cannot help you, other than suggest trying " E-BAY Shops ", where I do know that certain shops do have a selection of 5pp. albums available.
I wish you luck in your search.
Regards Kevin

Your "Harold Got Shot in The eye" song would be the monologue 'Battle Of Hastings 1066'. You can find the full lyrics/words here monologues.co.uk/Battle_of_Hastings.htmThat song IS now available. As well as being on the long-deleted 'The Fivepenny Piece On Stage' LP, a new version was included on the live CD 'Where It Al Began' recorded last year. And that is available from the Fivepenny Piece website shop. As for "Sylvest" - that would be 'My Brudda Sylvest' - released on 'The Fivepenny Piece On Stage' LP, the Very Best Of The Fivepenny Piece' LP (NOT the CD!) or the 'Better Than Ever' CD (which I have been told is worth avoiding!). All long deleted, I'm afraid. Neither are Fivepenny Piece-compositions, and you might find those songs appearing on releases by other artists (although obviously inferior versions to the Fivepenny Piece versions . As for finding the old vinyl LPs - kevmacker is correct; your best bet seems to be eBay at the moment.
